Orville Simpson

Occupation

Professional disciplinarian

Birth name

Orville Joseph Simpson

Abe's father, a professional disciplinarian who taught other fathers to strangle misbehaving sons, as shown in "Bart Gets Hit by a Car". He came from the Old Country. The show contradicts itself on whether he is alive: he appears as a spirit in Bart's dream of heaven, yet in "The Winter of His Content" Homer says he is alive, so the tree follows the later episode.
