- Is Build a Family Tree free?
- Yes. You can create as many family trees as you like, add people, photos and stories, and invite relatives without paying anything.
- Can my relatives help build the family tree?
- Yes. Invite them by email as editors, who can add and change people, or as viewers, who can browse and comment. Every change appears in the activity feed and can be undone.
- Is my family tree private?
- Your tree is visible only to the people you invite. If you create a public link, anyone with it can view the tree, but living people show only their names.
- Can I import a family tree from another program?
- Yes. Import a GEDCOM file from most genealogy programs and websites, and export your tree as GEDCOM at any time.
- Can I print my family tree?
- Yes. Export the tree as a PNG image or a PDF, or print it directly. You can also show only one person's ancestors or descendants first.
- What can I record about each person?
- Names including birth or maiden names and nicknames, dates (a year is enough), places of birth, death and burial, occupation, a life story, life events, photos, and parents, partners and children, including adopted, step and foster relationships.
